Kathleen May Yount, 89, of Gainesville, Texas, formerly of New Bethlehem, died Wednesday morning, December 8, 2010, in Gainesville.
Born April 29, 1921, in Lazare, Texas, she was the daughter of Thomas and Carrie Toland Beasley.
She married Vernon T. Yount on August 10. 1945. He preceded her in death on October 16, 2007.
Mrs. Yount was a registered nurse. She worked as a civilian nurse for the United States Army. She then worked in various doctors’ offices and hospitals in Clarion, Brookville and Kittanning.
She was a member of the Grace Baptist Church in New Bethlehem.
Mrs. Yount was a member of the American Legion in New Bethlehem and enjoyed volunteering and quilting.
Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Thompson and her husband, Jay, of Gainesville, Texas, formerly of New Bethlehem; eight grandchildren, Michael Pence of Wytusing, Melissa Flores of Arlington, Texas, Kevin Thompson and Matthew Pence, both of Fort Worth, Texas, Michelle Hatcher of White Settlement, Texas, Barbara Thompson, member of the U.S. Army stationed in Germany, Megan Nulph of Oak Ridge, Carrie Thompson of Gainesville, Texas; 14 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Beasley.
The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to noon on Friday, Dec. 17, at the Rupert Funeral Home in New Bethlehem.
Funeral services will be held at noon on Friday, December 17, 2010, at the funeral home with the Rev. Rob Ryver, pastor of the Grace Baptist Church, officiating.
Interment will be in Oakland Cemetery, Distant, Armstrong County.
