SEARCY, Lavenia Clark: 1923 – 2006

Mrs. Searcy passed away at her home in Tularosa on Friday, Aug. 4, after a long illness. In 1949, Lavenia and her husband, Raymond Clark and their two sons moved from Goodlett, Texas to Ruidoso. After Raymond’s death, she married Frank Gardner and moved to Tularosa where she and Frank owned and operated the Gardner Pipe and Steel Co. Lavenia continued to run the company for several years after Frank’s death. In 1990 Lavenia married cliff Searcy. Lavenia had been active in the Adobe Dabblers, Tularosa Senior Citizen Center, Otero Widows’ Group, and Ruidoso Doe’s. Lavenia was born July 20, 1923 in Paducah, Texas to Jess and Pearl Allen. She is survived by her two sons, Wesley Clark and his wife Linda of Ruidoso, Kenneth Clark and his wife Peggy of Ruidoso; a step son, Derek Searcy and his wife B.J. of Huachuca City, Arizona; grandchildren, Jennifer Clark, Scott Clark and his wife Annie, Kendra Caraway, Wendy Clark, Randy Clark, and Matthew Searcy; great grandchildren, Kelcey Clark and Zack Caraway; her brothers, Louie Allen, William Allen, Mel Allen, Glenn Allen; sisters, Edna Stutzman, Joyce Campbell, Johnnye Riggan and numersous nieces and nephews.
