MOORE, Elbert : 1946 – 2011

Former Quanah resident Elbert Moore, 65, of Odessa, died Monday, Dec. 19, 2011. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 31, 2011, at Freedom Missionary Baptist Church in Odessa, with the Rev. James Archie and the Rev. W.M. Tatum, pastor of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Moore was born March 1, 1946, in Quanah, the youngest of Jerry and Buler Moore’s children. A graduate of Quanah High School, he moved to Odessa for a short time, then lived in Dallas for 23 years. He returned to Odessa in the late 1990s. He worshipped at Freedom Missionary Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers JB, Joe and Albert Moore; and sisters Jerrienne Toms, Pearline Houston, and Emma Jean Williams.
Survivors include a son, Elbert Miller of Fort Worth; a daughter, Sharon Prophet of Houston; three brothers, Melvin Moore of Santiago, Chile, Calvin Moore and Archer Moore, both of Odessa; two sisters, Mae Francis Carr and Helen Moore, both of Quanah; and four grandchildren.
