Obituary: Charles Lavelle “Tuffy” Golden

Charles Lavelle “Tuffy” Golden, 77, of Quanah, died Wednesday, Sept. 17, in Quanah Parker Nursing Center in Quanah, Memorial services were scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 20, in Price-Jackson Funeral Home in Quanah.

Golden was born Jan. 7, 1920 in De Leon, a son of Ollie and Ruby Golden. He and Quave Slaton were wed in 1940 in Altus, OK. He had lived in Quanah all his life and owned and operated Golden Trucking Company for many years. He was an Army veteran of World War II and served in the Philippines.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Maxine Heil; and a brother, Johnny Golden.

Survivors include his wife, Quava Golden of Quanah; two sons, Charles Golden Jr. of Quanah and Jerald Golden of Murfreesboro, TN.; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
