COKENDOLPHER, Arthur Hilton: 1925 – 2010

Arthur Hilton Cokendolpher, 84, formerly of Amarillo, Texas, died Sunday, April 25, 2010.

Celebration of life services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Faith Fellowship Church with the Rev. Gary Hoffman, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery in Boones Mill. Arrangements are by Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory.

Mr. Cokendolpher was born July 12, 1925, in Goodlett, Texas, to Dave and Georgia Lee Tanner Cokendolpher.

Mr. Cokendolpher and his wife, Helen, lived the majority of their lives in Amarillo, owning and operating Cokendolpher Tax Service until retiring to Virginia to live near their son.

Arthur was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Otha Brownlow, Oscar Cokendolpher, Tom Cokendolpher and Olen Cokendolpher; and a sister, Oma Hawthorne.

Arthur is survived by his loving wife, Helen Hyden Cokendolpher; a daughter, Linda Marlene Smith and husband Lowell D. Smith of Pennsylvania; a son, David Cokendolpher and wife Judy of Boones Mill; five grandchildren, Jason Smith of New York, Dana Garnier and husband Rick of Pennsylvania, Bradley Cokendolpher and wife Claire of North Carolina, Zachry Cokendolpher and wife Valarie of Callaway, and Joshua Cokendolpher and wife Kathrina of Boones Mill; seven great-grandchildren, Austin and Tyler Garnier, Olivia and Ethan Cokendolpher, Caleb and Andrew Cokendolpher, and Calum Fader.

The family suggests memorials be to Boones Mill Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 61, Boones Mill, VA 24065.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at Faith Fellowship Church.
