CALDWELL, Dorothy Louise ‘Bellamy’: 1921 – 2011

Dorothy Louise “Bellamy” Caldwell, age 89, of Quanah, TX, died Saturday, August 13, 2011, in Quanah, TX.

Services will be at 2:30 pm Tuesday at the Quanah Church of Christ with Paul Brown officiating and assisted by Buck Johnson, Ross Roberts and Larry DeLong. Burial will follow in Big Valley Cemetery, Medicine, TX, under the direction of Smith Funeral Home, Quanah.

Mrs. Caldwell was born November 7, 1921 in Medicine Mound, TX and was the daughter of the late Millard T. and Lillian (Bailey) Bellamy. Dorothy was a lifetime resident of Hardeman County and graduated from Medicine Mound High School and attended West Texas State. While attending WT she worked for Pantex, Amarillo, TX. She and Garland Caldwell were married on June 2, 1946 in Medicine Mound. In 1944 she was employed by the First National Bank retiring in 1985 and also sold monuments for Winters-Howie Monument Company. She was past President of the Quanah PTA, member of the Home Demonstration Club, American Cancer Society and active supporter of the Big Valley Cemetery. She was a member of the Quanah Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by a brother Millard Z. Bellamy in 1934.

She is survived by her Husband: Garland Caldwell of Medicine Mound, TX; Two Daughters: Norma Lou Fitzpatrick of Holly Lake Ranch, TX; Beverly Ann Havins of Wichita Falls, TX; One Son: Kent Caldwell of Long Key, Florida ; One sister, Margaret Jones of Boise, ID; Eight Grandchildren; Thirteen Great Grandchildren.

Mrs. Caldwell will lie in state at the funeral home and the family will greet friends at the Church of Christ Activity Center, 100 West Eight Street, for visitation Monday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
