BRANDON, Doris Ernestine (Brandon): 1915 – 2010

Doris Ernestine Brandon, 95, passed away Sunday, December 26, 2010 in Wichita Falls. Graveside Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at Quanah Memorial Park with Robert Rasberry officiating. Services are under the direction of Hampton Vaughan Funeral Home.

Doris was born April 11, 1915 in Goodlett, TX to James A. Brandon and Bessie M. (Alexander) Brandon. She attended Goodlett schools until the 10th grade and graduated from Quanah High School in 1932. She was a graduate of St. Paul School of Nursing in Dallas, TX where she became a Registered Nurse. She was an active Registered Nurse for 35 years, 27 of which were in the US Army Nurse Corps. Doris was a member of the St. Paul Alumni Association for 60 years, the National League for Nurses for 25 years, and was a Charter Member of Texas Nursing Service Administrators. She entered into the Army Nurse Corps during World War II and retired as a Full Colonel in 1970. After retirement, she volunteered for the American Red Cross and also helping those in need.

Doris is survived by three nieces and is preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Thurston, A.J., and Buddy Brandon; one niece, Karen Rasberry; and one nephew, James Brandon.

The family would like to say a special thank you to the Presbyterian Manor for all of the love and care shown to Doris during her 20 year residency. Memorials may be made to the charity of choice.
